"Sit Still, My Daughter"

Published May 25th, 2018 by Ccwestside

Ruth 3:18 “Then she said, “Sit Still, my daughter, until you know how the matter will turn out; for the man will not rest until he has concluded the matter this day.”

These words spoke life to me on a morning that was flooding with impossibilities, and the simple instruction “Sit Still, my daughter” were words spoken right from my Father to my breaking heart. The Lord wanted the thoughts and worries whirling around in my mind to be still.

Your Father wants you, His Daughter, to sit still amidst the impossibilities surrounding you, or the daunting tasks before you, or the devastating circumstances you find yourself in. Whether you are weeping over a prodigal child or unsaved family members, or feel like giving up on those promises not yet fulfilled, The Lord wants you just to sit and your thoughts to still.

Whats so amazing about this instruction God gives His daughters to "sit still” is that it doesn’t require anything from us, Our responsibility is simply to sit quietly before Him. This stillness comes from committing whatever we are facing to Him. Calming our busy minds and completely handing over our cares and concerns to the One who loves us most. We don’t have to take action or even worry about the outcome because Our Father, "He will not rest until He has concluded the matter.”

The fact that my Father won’t "rest until He has concluded the matter” gives me great hope. A hope that goes beyond my understanding. A promise and sure hope that He will take care of my life, my current situation, and my very next step. He not only solves my problems but turns them into something beautiful before my eyes.

Psalm 138:8 says “The Lord will perfect that which concerns me…”

So Daughter, be still, sit before Him and find great hope that He won’t rest until His work is finished.
