Jesus. Just Jesus.

Published March 29th, 2019 by Ccwestside

Pastor Dave often says, “Just saying the name ‘Jesus’ makes demons flee. It is a powerful word, the name of Jesus. Use it to your defense against darkness.” I love this because I often get entangled in fear and I remind myself of that phrase every time. I say Jesus and I ultimately feel better and safer. His name is so powerful and satan and his demons flee at his name. Some of us have fears of going over bridges, or heights or swimming in the ocean or whatever it may be. But then we remind ourself of what the Lord says in scripture and that he doesn’t give us the spirit of fear but of peace love and a sound mind. Jesus is sovereign and holds us and our whole life in the palm of his hand. The world is his foot stool. Anything that satan wants to do to us he has to go to Jesus and ask him before, to allow it to happen. There is nothing that will happen to us in this life that the lord isn’t allowing and is unaware of. He controls everything and is sovereign above ALL. I always remind myself of that.

I personally am scared of 2 main things. Snakes and the darkness. Mainly the darkness because we don’t see to many snakes here in Rochester, New York haha but I absolutely hate the dark. It has been my main fear of mine since I was a little girl. We all have fear inside of us that we all battle on a daily basis. But if we truly believe in Gods word and what he tells us, we shouldn’t fear or be anxious about anything .

Psalm 23:4 says “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me."

2 Timothy 1:7 says “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."

If we take these verses to heart we should let go and let God. We should trust him with all our heart, soul and mind. I know it’s easier said than done and we’re only human but scripture is God breathed. He holds his word above his name and if Jesus said these things to be true than we should fear nothing at all. God is for us, not against us. He is all powerful and all knowing and always watching after us and protecting us. If we focus more on Jesus and his name and his word then it won’t give the enemy time to fill our heads and thoughts with fear and that is when we will have victory.

Just saying the name Jesus always comforts me. We have to remind our self that he is not just our God that we pray to for protection and guidance and help but he is our dad. Our real dad. A parents main focus in life is to protect their child. If earthly parents do everything they can at all costs to protect their child then what do you think our perfect, all powerful, all knowing father can do to protect us? Rest and mediate on how powerful he is and that there is not one thing that will happen to us in our lifetime that he is unaware about and not allowing.

Isaiah 40:26- “Lift up your eyes on high And see who has created these stars, The One who leads forth their host by number, He calls them all by name; Because of the greatness of His might and the strength of His power, Not one of them is missing."
